neighborhoods.
THE LEMONADE CLUB
The Lemonade Club is an opportunity for students to make a difference in their
own neighborhood by participating in a meaningful service learning experience.

Each Lemonade Club consists of students from elementary age to college aged
that have a passion for helping others and that are willing to take action. These
students may be from one class or a part of the larger school, depending on the
chosen format.

The idea of Lemonade Clubs is based on the book, "The Lemonade Stand: How
To Make A Difference 101 - A Guide For Students, Volunteers, and Other
Good-Hearted People" by David Justus, which includes the amazing stories of real
people who stood up to life's lemons and are making a difference.

Two of the stories are from students and will serve as inspiration for club
members. The first story is that of Charlie and Sammie Zipperer, ages 10 and 12,
who after serving at a homeless shelter decided to start their own mission,
"
Blankets For The Homeless." They regularly use their money to buy blankets or
get them donated; then on a weekly basis, they visit homeless camps throughout
Fort Myers, Florida where they hand out the blankets and a peanut butter and jelly
sandwich.

Cleveland, TN who after spending time with some military personnel saw the need
for entertainment among the troops. She wanted to help and decided to donate
some of her CDs and DVDs. This effort lead to the foundation of
Tunes For The
Troops, a nationwide effort to send entertainment to the troops, which has donated
more than 475,000 CDs and DVDs.
